A group of senior film students produced the podcast Creative by Design as their senior project. I was asked to create the logo. They wanted the logo to feel like the process of creativity and how it can be a contained mess. They initially had a very specific idea for the logo. I was given this drawing and the concept of paint dripping as the basis of the logo.
These were the first three versions I presented to the team. They ranged from a flat version to a 3D version. They wanted the text to have a handwritten feel. The second version's text was custom-made to give it a very natural feel.

They didn't connect with any of the first versions. We decided to move towards watercolor and the concept of paint exploding. I created three more versions for them to pick from. They loved the right design, and that became the final logo for Creative by Design.
